a degree, a job, a house are not the measures of a man.

My students, the ones you criticize, the ones you mock,

are the same ones who could teach you a thing or two.

Though they may not have the manners you wish for

or the lifestyle you envy, what they lack,

they make up for in heart. 

You can laugh at their "ignorance" and lack of fortune,

but remember...while you live in the comfort of your home

and they struggle to stay warm in theirs,

they're the ones giving up their lunch money to help the less fortunate.

Think about that the next time you open your hypocritical mouth.
