ready.

Tomorrow marks the start of another school year.
Maybe it was nostalgia that prompted
me to open up a random yearbook,
but the date on the front cover caught me off guard.
Has it really been twelve years
since the first time I stepped into a classroom?
I mean, I know how long I've been teaching,
but it's different to see it in print.
It's evidence that I'm no longer young and green,
that....in fact, I'm aging.
My brother told me to stop chasing
the fountain of youth recently.
I laughed...for as long as I teach,
I'll always feel alive. And young.
Many teachers dread the start of a new year,
I say "bring it.'

You have been with us every step of the way. When I announced I was getting married at 19, you looked at me in dismay. But you were the first guest to arrive at my wedding. When i told you i was having a baby at 21, you warned me about the hardships but you bought us the baby crib a week later. You may have gotten older but your heart will never age.

You have taught me many things but being a better person is the most mportant. That and there is no right or wrong when it comes to creative writing. Good luck with the new students but I know you won't need it.

Come and visit us when you get a chance. It's been too long. She is walking now.

Yo, teach. The silence is deafening. Good to see movement.

Knock em dead tomorrow.

Me and the lady will be at the Linkin park concert tomorrow, hollar when you get there. Maybe we can spare you a couple of minutes and make you look cool.
